The “9th Japan Boot Camp” program, which connects domestic startups seeking to enter Japan with local conglomerates and investment companies, ended on the 19th after a three-day schedule.

Startup Alliance, a domestic startup public-private cooperation network, held a Japan Boot Camp with 10 domestic startups in Tokyo, Japan, from the 17th to the same day.

Japan Boot Camp, which started in 2014, selects 10 domestic startup teams every year to connect them with local venture capital, support institutions, and large companies in Japan and promote exchanges between the two countries’ ecosystems.

Participating startups are △ Uprise △ Gaudio Lab △ Robo Arte △ Enuma △ Sendbird Korea △ Eva △ Shuffle & Company △ Collectors △ Plain Bagel △ Encode.

They visited leading Japanese companies such as Global Brain, Plug & Play Japan, Z Holdings, and Z Venture Capital to introduce and network business models, and seminars to obtain information on the Japanese ecosystem and know-how to target.

There were also “Korean in Japan,” where you can meet Koreans working in the startup ecosystem in Japan, and “K-Startup Open Demo Day,” which is reviewed by local investors in Japan.

Philip Vincent, Plug & Play’s East Asian management partner, said, “The 10 Korean startups that participated this time were able to gain implications because they wanted to enter the global market, especially how they wanted to grow in the Japanese market, and their goals were clear.”

At the networking event, about 80 Korean IT workers, including locals working in the Japanese IT industry, attended and had a networking time to share vivid experiences.

On the last day of the Open Demo Day, about 70 Japanese officials, including Japanese venture capitalists and employees of IT conglomerates who are interested in the Korean startup ecosystem or business, attended and listened to the presentations of Korean startups.

Choi Hang-jip, head of the Startup Alliance Center, said, “We hope that Korean startups, who are ready to enter the Japanese market through the Japan Boot Camp, will be able to meet with local investors and companies in Japan to understand and exchange each other’s ecosystem.”
